Open Question: Do American soldiers like the AK-47?

Lately, i have been looking at stuff about the AK-47. I've been learning some stuff, like it is extremely reliable, but you still have to treat it like it's any other gun. It uses a 7.62x39 round in 30, 75, and other capacity magazines. I've been looking at other stuff. Is it true that when American soldiers WERE in Iraq (THEY'RE NOT THERE ANYMORE), Afghanistan, and in the past, Vietnam, some soldiers preferred the AK-47 to their guns? I don't believe everything I read.
