Open Question: How to be popular at a new school?

Im half American and Vietnamese . My parents are working with a lot of business in Vietnam and they want me and live with them there for about 3 years or 2 , i dont know yet ! I'm living in Louisiana and im leaving in about a week ( REALLY NERVOUS ) . I dont speak a lot of Vietnamese but I know i will be studying in an American School that will allowed students to speak english . I dont know what would my first day be like . Should I dress the way that dress like I am in America ? or I should do things that are "normal" like Vietnamese kids . I think me , as a unique person (well...to them !) might someway help me having friends . I think even my stuff is weird like books pencils binders ... they dont even use binders in vietnam !!!!
