Open Question: SOMEONE help me find the title of this movie.?

Ok, I saw this movie when i was much younger but have yet to find the title of it and it is driving me mad. It's about a Vietnamese girl amongst the American invasion of Vietnam, trying to live her life, then she falls in love with an American soldier, they make love and eventually have kids but he goes away on a helicopter back to fight.
